Pros: The basic version of the software is free and includes many features not found in paid versions. For the cash-strapped freelancer, that can be mana from heaven.Ĭons: The ONLY thing (but a major thing) that I've seen that's frustrated not only myself, but many many others that are part of a small business owner's forum, is the following-and I hope someone does something about it ASAP-In the phone app, we used to be able to use the Swype keyboard, speech to text & predictive text, making it a breeze to fill out or alter item descriptions and such. After one of these recent updates a few months ago, this capability was removed from those fields, obligating us to type one character at a time. This really killed the ease of use of this app, and while I still give it a glowing review, the truth is that if this doesn't get resolved in the near future, by next year I'll have to move on to an app that allows me to use my keyboard & speech to text to fill out these item descriptions. The only reason myself and many others have not switched is bc we've complained about it and we are all really hoping that the development team takes the 5 minutes it would take to switch this back to the way it was, and because of the fact that we all have developed a thorough item list that would be hard to start from scratch, but we are holding out hope bc it's our favorite! Please, Wave Dev team, please revert this function to it's original capabilities! For 1% more payment, you can transfer money within minutes. Once someone pays your invoice, the money is in Wave, and takes 2-3 days to transfer. They didn't influence my decision to sign up, but they've proven to be very useful.Īnd finally a small but really helpful feature, especially if you're a freelancer just starting out: immediate money transfers. Wave also provides a host of reporting and tracking tools in this basic account. I've been using Wave for over 3 years, and I have never once been hit with a fee outside of the basic rates. I asked a financial advisor friend of mine before signing up, and she was pleasantly surprised by the low rates, and told me to go for it. There's no subscription or hidden fees, they just take a perfectly reasonable percentage from invoice payments. I have zero background in financial matters, and with Wave that's totally fine. Set up is really simple and the interface is user-friendly. But I've really enjoyed using it so far and I don't anticipate changing anytime soon. So yeah, I would say it doesn't hurt for a small and medium business size owner to look at that and just consider it. So I found that part to be helpful as well. I mean, I would say especially also, the other thing is if you're not necessarily very knowledgeable about accounting practices or managing your books or keeping track of the ledger and invoices and stuff like that, payroll, this is a good way to help with that because they are able to walk you through each step-by-step part of the process. But for small, medium business, it's definitely something to look into. It might not make sense for large corporate clients because maybe you have a lot more users or something like that. I would say if you're a small, medium business, it's definitely something that you should look into. So there's a few other different features that you can utilize on there, but because those are my two main priorities, it was really easy just to get everything set up with the account, play around with all the different features, and at least get a few invoices written up. Like I said, I use mine for invoices primarily and keeping track of payments from clients. I guess it really just depends on what you're looking to get out of it. I don't think there was anything too complicated. And based off that research, I went ahead and signed up and I've been using it ever since.įor me, it was pretty easy. So that's the first and only one that I've used.īasically, it was a recommendation from a former coworker that he had used it for his consulting business in the past and basically said you should look at it because it's a good value, it's good for small businesses, it's good to keep track of payments and invoices, and it doesn't really cost of a lot, so it's something you should research. I had tried to do all of that stuff manually, but I had never used any other software before. For Wave, it's specifically for accounting and invoices and payroll. Company of one, and for rating for Wave Accounting, I would give it five stars.
