![]() Totally beautiful in its own right so you've got to decide what you'd be more satisfied with at the end of the day. People love white sapphire because it gives more of a "glow" than sparkle. So I'd say if you're shopping in that size it'll look more "diamond-like" if that's what you're after. So it does take some research to find what you're after.Īlso generally speaking smaller rounds (2ct or less moissanites) do not show the double refraction as much (doesn't reflect as much color) than larger ones. Stone shape like step cuts (emerald/asscher) do reduce color sparkles as well but there are some rounds (like in my post history re: Kalala round) that look strikingly similar to diamond to my eye even IRL. Some companies maximize the sparkle (colorful property of moissanite) whereas others try to minimize the color to mimic diamond (talking mostly about round cuts). The cut however is what I think is most important. I'm not one to get into the nitty gritty of explaining all of it but it generally speaking most moissanite these days are of higher quality (less yellow/green) than the original rough material when it first came out so I think you're safe there when searching for stones now. Oh gosh, there are many qualities to consider. Mostly dependent on what type of gold you get (10k, 14k, or 18k)! Most of the trusted vendors range from as little as $200-300 to $700-800. Really give the subreddit over there a little lookiez and search those shape to see some posts/feedback. If you like more modern style I think moissanite emerald cuts are TO DIE FOR! And honestly again compare to their diamond counterparts very well. Same with Old mine cuts (more of a cushion shape) or antique pears (which I have and LOVE!). They really do a great job comparing to their diamond counterparts. They have larger facets so it’s is less like a disco ball and more pale flashes. If you like classic rounds check out r/moissanite and use the search bar for OEC (old European cuts) and check out some of the beautiful stones. If you decide to do it anyways get a precision cut from a reputable vendor and go with a solitaire so it’s not competing with diamonds around it (mine was a 1ct round in a diamond halo-baddddd idea).Īs someone who also tends to feel the fire of moissanite to be extreme (which is beautiful in its own right) if you’re looking for a diamond like option I highly recommend antique or step cuts in moissanite. I personally don’t like moissanite (feels fake to me) and would go with a natural colored sapphire or lab diamond. My advice- don’t do it! Go lab diamond, moissanite, or colored sapphire. Im considering trading it in for a colored sapphire. I still have it loose and can’t even bring myself to set it because I hate it so much. I pulled it out of the setting and replaced it with a diamond as soon as we could afford it. I felt like I was trying to pass it off as a diamond even though I wasn’t. I was actually very insecure when showing off my ring. We couldn’t afford a diamond and thought it would be a good alternative. ![]() I was engaged with a white sapphire years ago for the same reason.
